Naperville Democrats Support 204 Bond Referendum

Naperville Democrats Pledge Support for 204 Referendum

Group Urges Community to Pass Bond Measure on April 5

Naperville, IL -- Voting overwhelmingly in favor of the measure at their monthly meeting, Naperville Democrats passed a resolution on Thursday supporting the Indian Prairie School District 204's bond referendum.

"Our school system is the crown jewel of Naperville," said Rick Klau, Chair of the Naperville Township Democratic Organization. "The 204 referendum presents our community with an opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to a superior school system. Its passage will ensure that we can look forward to a future in which Naperville's students can continue to receive the best education possible."

The referendum asks voters in IPSD 204 to approve $130.5 million in new spending to construct a third high school in 204, acquire the land for the high school, and pay for improvements and upgrades throughout the rest of the school district.

"Indian Prairie schools are already nearing capacity," said Margaret Kohler, co-chair of Citizens for Classrooms, a citizens group advocating passage of the referendum. "Passing this referendum will ensure that we can accommodate existing needs and plan for the future without compromising the quality of education we've come to expect. We welcome the endorsement of the Naperville Democrats on an issue that transcends political boundaries - this is truly something the entire community of Naperville can get behind."

Voters in 204 will vote on April 5 on the referendum.
