So, Just What Does a Precinct Committee Person Do?

If “all politics is local” then the precinct level is really where all democracy really happens. The Precinct Committee Person is the most important person in the Democratic Party! They are the eyes and ears, arms and voices of the Party. They represent the interests of their precinct’s Democratic voters as a member of the Naperville Township Democratic Organization and the Democratic Party of DuPage County Central Committee and they represent the Party to the voters of their precinct.

The typical duties of a Precinct Committee Person include the following:

• Getting to know the concerns of the voters in their precinct

• Attendance at monthly meetings of the Naperville Township Democratic Organization as well as attendance at the Central Committee meetings of the DPDC

• Helping our Democratic candidates at all levels

As we get closer to an election, precinct activity will increase, as expected. Precinct Committee Persons are truly the grass-roots power house of the Democratic Party!
